Geotextile is a permeable geosynthetic comprised solely of textiles. Geotextiles are used with foundation, soil, rock, earth, or any other geotechnical engineering-related materials as an integral part of a human-made product, structure, or system.

The fabrication of non-woven geotextiles begins with the selection of raw materials, typically synthetic polymers such as polypropylene (PP) or polyester (PET). These fabrics are made from synthetic fibres bonded together through mechanical, thermal, or chemical processes, creating a strong, durable, and permeable fabric.
